In case we get a little jaded thinking about social media and user-generated content in terms of marketing programs (Chevy Tahoe), it's always nice to see projects like this one, from the San Francisco International Film Festival.
Remix tools including director's clips, title shots and music are provided for users to come up with their own remix, there is a cool gallery of submissions, and the best remixes end up getting screened.
Although we are seeing a huge rush of marketers jumping on the user-generated-content bandwagon, we shouldn't let that obscure the fact that this is not a trend, and represents a deeper shift in the way that we think about things like media production, intellectual property and even creativity.
