I've been meaning to post a review/recommendation for Spark, written by John Winsor. The book explores "innovation through co-creation", and is broken down in four sections: The Team, The Company, The Customer and The Culture. Each section is comprised of thought-provoking entries from leaders in their respective fields. Our favourites include Mother partner Rob DeFlorio's excellent chapter on creativity ("Communicate Faster"), Michael Jager's look at the tension between reliance and inspiration in the world of co-creation, and Jake McKee's (from Lego) take on fostering deeper interaction with your community.
With so many changes occurring at such a rapid pace, John's focus on the sources of innovation is timely. He rightly points "the necessity of engaging with others to thrive in today's chaos", and Spark offers many great ideas about how exactly that can happen (i.e. it's filled with good practical suggestions from people that have actually done it).
In the spirit of the book, John has invited readers to participate over at his Spark blog, so have a look there for more info on the book and its contributors. Oh, and don't forget his Beyond The Brand site (where I first got introduced to John's thinking!).
Just a word on the availability on SPARK and BEYOND THE BRAND - these books can be found at Chapters, Indigo and better bookstores in Canada
