I've just finished reading Mark's thoughtful review of Interesting 2007, and now I'm regretting it even more that I couldn't make it to the event. Here's Mark:
we were basically being treated to a line-up of people enthusing about their passions and obsessions, and it’s hard not to find that interesting, whatever the subject - enthusiasm is contagious, after all.
This really strikes a chord with me. I love geeky, eccentric, and obsessive people who are really in to what they do. They're the ones that inspire others; or at least they're the ones that always inspire me. If you aren't slightly nutty about whatever it is you do, how could ever hope to have others see things through your eyes? (
I've been fortunate in my life to have been surrounded by a lot of people like this, who are driven by passion-rather than money ;) DJs (myself included), producers and remixers, but also artists, publishers, writers, journalists, cinematographers and physicists (and, lately, fellow bloggers, at least the ones I come across in the good ol' plannersphere). The common denominator is always limitless enthusiasm and love, and without it I think I for one would be quite miserable.
All have been quite obsessive about something that means a lot to them, and would continue to do what they do regardless of whether it made them rich or famous. I wasn't there, but if it's anything close to how Mark and others describe it, I'm sure I would have loved it.

Damn right Dino.
I get inspired by those who obssess about a subject, and want to help get me into it.
For my part, it's music, football and golf. I could talk for hours about those.

Hi Dino, glad to hear you've been infected with the Interesting enthusiasm. I know what you mean re obsession, I was talking to my poetry tutor the other day and we agreed you can't write good poems unless you're obsessed by it.
Love the mix by the way, it's been on heavy rotation at Wishful Thinking towers!
